Our Work in Public Health

At IFA, we work to improve health outcomes by generating evidence that informs policy, strengthens services, and gives communities a voice in shaping their wellbeing. Our focus areas are driven by the most pressing health needs in Sierra Leone, especially for women, children, and vulnerable populations.

> Nutrition

We support community-led efforts to combat malnutrition through nutrition surveys, maternal and child health assessments, and the tracking of food security indicators. Our research informs interventions that promote dietary diversity, early childhood feeding practices, and school-based nutrition programs.

> Mental Health & Psychosocial Wellbeing

We bring attention to mental health through data and storytelling. Our assessments explore trauma, stress, and access to psychosocial support, particularly for youth, survivors of violence, and communities affected by crisis. We help partners integrate mental health into broader health and development strategies.

> Maternal & Reproductive Health

IFA researches maternal health access, antenatal care, safe delivery practices, and postpartum support. We also evaluate family planning programs and barriers to reproductive healthcare, especially for adolescents, rural women, and persons with disabilities.
